In Year 8, students might be engaging with novels and newspapers, poems and plays, digital media and short stories. It’s important to the Cluey Education Team that every learner feels confident in their understanding and ready to tackle any assignment. We have a bank of resources and units ready to support creative and persuasive writing – plus grammar and spelling to give that final polish.

Meet Dr Selina Samuels
Dr Samuels and her Education team developed Cluey's unique CENTRE approach, and have created interactive learning programs that map to the curriculum and allow students to work at their own level and pace.
English Tutoring Program Based on the Curriculum
Cluey's Intermediate English learning programmes are based on the New Zealand Curriculum for K-6 and focus on core literacy skills, including reading and writing techniques in the early years, and grammar and punctuation in the senior years. Our personalised approach gives your child the opportunity to slow down in the areas they find challenging to ensure they ‘get it’.

Claire
Tutor
English: Primary, Intermediate & Secondary
Claire completed her Bachelor of Psychological Science in 2011. She also completed her Master of Clinical Audiology in 2015 and her Graduate Certificate in Editing and Publishing in 2018. Claire has experience tutoring English and Mathematics to Primary through Secondary students since 2018. Claire's aim is to assist students to make the most of their natural abilities and to encourage new approaches to learning and study that fit with each student.

Tutor (Private Tutor)
English: Primary, Intermediate & Secondary
Mathematics: Secondary
Rayna completed her Year 12 certificate with an ATAR of 99.10. She has started tutoring in 2020 as a private tutor. Rayna focuses on an individual's needs and caters to their learning style with a flexible and approachable attitude. She creates a safe and nurturing environment for all her students.
Natiq
University Student (Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts)
English: Primary, Intermediate & Secondary
Natiq completed his Higher School Certificate in 2016, achieving an ATAR of 99. He then went on to complete his Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts (Majoring in Politics and International Relations) in 2017. In 2018 he commenced his Bachelor of Law and Bachelor of Arts (Majoring in International Relations) at the University of New South Wales. He has been tutoring since 2017. Natiq works closely with his students to assist with their essay writing and textual analysis.

Weekly learning through live tutoring sessions, feedback & practice
Each student’s individual learning journey is supported through a series of live face-to-face sessions with an expert tutor matched to the student's needs. We cover all the theory and examples needed to ensure comprehension, and our sessions are designed to be engaging and encouraging.
Our expert tutors offer guidance through demonstration and worked examples and assign targeted practice questions to help students master the topics and concepts covered.
After each session, personalised feedback is provided to help students and parents track their progress.

First 5 Minutes
Establishing the session theme, why are we here?

During the session
- Work through exercises based on the topics and concepts for each learning goal
